30th Taste of Galesburg draws hundreds to downtown

The Taste of Galesburg last night was in it’s 30th year and with more choices than there’s been before.

Establishments like 156 East, The Watering Hole and Sirloin Stockade were on hand but a somewhat unusual business treated residents to sweets.

Sweet Intentions by the Morgan’s is run by Clarice Morgan and her husband.

They make cakes, cupcakes and most baked good you can name but Clarice tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL this isn’t the Morgans’ day job.

“I am actually a pharmacist and my husband a physicist,” Morgan says. “So, a little bit of chemistry in the kitchen I guess you could say.”

Still, it wouldn’t be accurate to say the Morgan’s don’t have baking experience.

Clarice says she’s a fifth generation baker and her husband a fourth generation baker.

“He’s the baker and I’m kind of like the decorator in all of the conceptualizing,” Morgan says. “But, our daughter is really great with putting flavors together, so, we kind of see something and we say ‘yes definitely, that’s sounds like it will go good together’ or ‘no, that doesn’t sound like it will go good together but we’re going to try it anyway.'”

The Galesburg Public Library Foundation was the vendor and recipient of this year’s raffle drawing.

President Terry Bruner says the proceeds will go towards the future Galesburg Public Library.

We’re still awaiting the winners of this year’s taste. We’ll have those available as soon as event organizers provide us with them.
