Adams County Coroner James Keller has confirmed that 13-year-old Jonathan Lee Guyton is the deceased in a crash that took place near Hamilton in Hancock County last night.

West Central Superintendent Paula Markey says Guyton was an incoming West Central High School student and that the district’s thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Guyton, his 16 year old brother and 32-year-old Cara B. Ferris of Donnellson, Iowa were involved in the wreck on County Road 900 East around 6:20 p.m.

Guyton’s brother was the operator of the vehicle and both students were traveling southbound when the 16 year old driver lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the north bound lane. The boys were struck by Ferris’ vehicle.

All parties involved were initially pronounced seriously injured by the Illinois State Police. Keller says the 16 year old will recover and does not face life threatening injuries. There is no update yet on Ferris’s condition.

Markey says support services will be on hand this afternoon for students and faculty in need.
