The CEO of the company that will manage the future Galesburg Burger King on North Seminary Street says the store could open as soon as March 2017.

Galesburg’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved a bevy of zoning variances for the fast food restaurant last night.

These include reducing the number of parking space to 48 from the usually required 51 and putting up a sign that is over double the size required by city ordinances.

Now that they’re approved Maruti Gagan Management LLC has 90 days to begin construction.

CEO Maruti Seth says construction typically takes about 4 months depending on weather.

When Seth was asked about his concerns that Galesburg Burger King closed almost a decade ago…

“Different reasons, different time, different situations, different company,” Seth says. “Those things happen. I have no idea why they closed, it doesn’t make sense, but I’m sure they had their good reasons and sometimes building is to all people who want to invest, traffic patterns change. Things happen.”

The proposed development will also have a separate building with four spaces for office or retail.

Maruti Gagan bought the land from Mark Kleine of BYDR LLC and while he couldn’t remember an exact figure he said the price was around $400,000.
