The budget process continues for Galesburg City Council. Tonight, aldermen will meet for another work session and will detail the city’s Capital Improvement Program.

Based on comments from City Manager Todd Thompson at last month’s work session, council will likely discuss a prioritized list of projects for completion.

In 2015, council passed a utility tax and took out a $10 million bond issue to pay for improvements to city streets, sidewalks and potentially a renovation of the Broad Street Armory.

Aldermen voted in July to shelve a vote on continuing renovation talks for 90 days.

City officials have said Galesburg is facing a near $2 million deficit for FY17. A number of other budgeting work sessions will be held until council finalizes its budget plans this Winter.

Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Erickson Conference Room at City Hall.
