$3.5M bail set for suspect in kidnapping of Wheaton student

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — Bond has been set at $3.5 million for the last of three men accused of kidnapping and robbing a Wheaton College student last month.

The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office says 23-year-old Jeremy Jones of Elgin appeared in bond court Friday.

The charges against him include two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of armed robbery. He’s due back in court Nov. 1.

It was not clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Prosecutors say the student was kidnapped Aug. 26 by three men with a handgun. Authorities say they pulled the victim into an SUV and drove to ATM machines where they forced him to withdraw $1,500 from his bank account.

The victim was later released and called 911.
