A Fulton County man was life flighted with back and neck injuries last night following a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Rt. 41 and Knox Highway 26 outside of Abingdon.

Sgt. Joe Sims with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Joseph W. Russell of Marietta was the man injured.

A Chevy Camaro was headed eastbound on Highway 26 when it struck Russell’s Honda Civic which was headed northbound through the intersection at Rt. 41.

Russell was taken to St. Francis hospital in Peoria for treatment. Sims says the driver and passenger of the Camaro refused treatment at the scene. Illinois State Police, the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, GHAS and Abingdon Fire all responded.
