CHICAGO (AP) — The aunt of a teenage girl accused in a fatal shooting that followed a Facebook dispute is facing trial on charges that she supplied the murder weapon.
Thirty-five-year-old Vandetta Redwood’s trial is set to begin Monday on federal weapons charges stemming from Endia Martin’s April 2014 slaying. That shooting also wounded a 16-year-old girl.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Redwood has denied supplying the murder weapon to her then-14-year-old teenage niece, who’s charged in the killing.
But prosecutors say cellphone video shows an agitated Redwood yelling outside a home where a group of teenagers was preparing to settle a Facebook feud over a boy.
They say Redwood reached into her coat off-camera and handed a loaded gun to her niece, who’s now 17 and facing a murder trial.
