Galesburg Silver Streaks Football vs Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones

Here’s a recap of today’s game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin scored on each of its’ first 5 possessions, with 4 touchdowns and a field goal.  They had a 31-0 lead on Galesburg that blew into 38-0 with a touchdown right before halftime. They eventually worked their way to continuous clock late in the 3rd quarter and went on to a 45-7 victory ending the Silver Streaks season at 8-3.

DeAndre Moren got the lone touchdown for the Silver Streaks in the 4th Quarter. He compiled just over 100 yards rushing in his final game as a Silver Streak.

Galesburg finishes the season with a number of records. They got to the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time ever, and they won their first home playoff game in 25 years.

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin is the #1 team in class 6A, they are 11-0 and will play at Rock Island in the 3rd round, next week.

The Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time player of the Game was Jason Kelly, who had a fumble recovery in the 2nd Quarter.
