The Galesburg boys basketball team enters next week with an unbeaten record, 5-0. After polishing off their Thanksgiving Tournament title tonight, with a win over a very impressive Rockford Lutheran team, 62-59.
The Silver Streaks led pretty much the entire 4th Quarter, until Rockford Lutheran scored 7 points late to tie the game at 59, that’s when Mark Harden got fouled, knocked down two free-throws, and then TJ Pendleton had a block on potential All-Stater Kenny Strawbridge driving down the left side of the lane to secure the victory after Pendleton made 1 of 2 free-throws then rebounded his own miss on the second one.
That set off a celebration, both Pendleton and Jacob Ross made the All-Tournament team and now the Silver Streaks start next week, 5-0, heading to their Western Big 6 Conference opener on Friday night.
Silver Streaks will be at home against United Township who also won their Thanksgiving Tournament up at Geneseo. We will have our broadcast coming up Friday night at 7:06 for the pre-game with a 7:30 scheduled tip-off at John Thiel Gym with Jim Lee and Brad Bennewitz.
