Just in time for winter, a new shop with handmade crochet and knit items has opened at 430A N. Henderson St.

Linda’s Ladybugs is owned by Linda Harman.

Harman has crocheted and knitted since she was eight years old.

For a while “life got in the way” as she puts it but then she retired from government work in 2014. She moved back to Galesburg to be closer to family and in the process reconnected with her old hobby.

“I’m kind of running out of space here, so, I found that little shop there on North Henderson and thought I would just open up shop,” Harman says.

Her dad used to call her “lady bug” and that was her old handle on CB radio.

She makes hats, scarves, towels, slippers, fingerless gloves and boot cuffs. Every item Harman makes she says she tries to make “unique.”

Harman isn’t looking to get rich off her shop. In fact, she hopes to break even and any profit on top of that she says she will donate towards two causes she’s passionate about, helping veterans and animals in need.

Linda’s Ladybugs is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
