A Galesburg man is charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon bv a felon after he was arrested yesterday afternoon in the 2400 block of Grand Ave.

Police responded to a domestic call at the residence, shortly after 3 p.m. According to a report, a woman in the residence alleged she was pushed to the ground by 37-year-old Elias Rogers. When authorities arrived, the woman advised them of weapons in the home.

There, they found two rifles, a shotgun and ammunition in Rogers’ possession. Rogers was convicted of felony driving on a revoked license in 1999. Because of that conviction, he is not eligible for a FOID card.

The Galesburg man denied ownership and claimed the weapons belonged to a family member, however, police say the arrest stems from the guns being in his home.

Judge Bruce Beal set bond at $5,000 and appointed a public defender to the case. The possession charges are class three felonies and carry a maximum sentence of five years a piece.

Rogers will be back in court on Monday at 11 a.m.
