Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball @ Canton Little Giants

Recap of the game from WGIL’s Tom Meredith:

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team picks up their 8th win of the season to go along with their two losses after a win Saturday afternoon over the Canton Little Giants, 49 – 43. A nice, balanced scoring attack for the Streaks, in fact, everybody that played contributed on both ends of the floor.

Saige Milroy led in scoring with 14 points, including three 3-pointers and 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Andrea Sampson scored 10 points, 9 for Kylee Townsell, and 8 for Kaylah Townsell.

Kylee Townsell was named the Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game. She hit the first two free throws in a run of 16 for 19 in the 4th quarter, and those broke the tie. She also had 5 rebounds and assists and 3 blocked shots.

The Silver Streaks were 23 for 31 from the line in the game, 19 of 23 in the 2nd half. It was their best shooting night from behind the arc, hitting 6 of 14.

For Canton, it was only their second loss on the season. The first was on Friday night against Pekin and they are now 7 – 2.

The GHS sophomores lost their game against Canton by a final of 70 – 52, and are now 4 -3 on the season.
