Rep. Norine Hammond not only won reelection in November but has now been reappointed to her second term in a leadership role in the Illinois House’s Republican Party.
Republican Leader Jim Durkin reappointed Hammond as Assistant House Republican Leader on Tuesday.

Durkin has words of high praise for the Macomb Republican, saying Hammond “never waivers in her convictions and always provides a common sense prospective” to the state’s problems.

Hammond is known for advocacy in the areas of agriculture, job creation and higher education.

She was first appointed to the General Assembly in 2010.

She took over for the late Rep. Rich Myers who she worked as a legislative aide for over a 14 year span.

She’s honored to have gotten the call from Durkin.

Hammond says Durkin is a powerful voice for trying to “right our fiscal ship.”

Hammond is one of six Assistant Leaders alongside Dan Brady, Michael McAuliffe, David Reis, Bill Mitchell, Mike Unes and Chad Hays.
