Here is a recap of tonight’s Senior Night game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:
“The Quincy Blue Devils spoiled the Galesburg Silver Streaks’ Senior Night and Black-Out Night with a 69-58 victory at John Thiel Gym. Galesburg’s biggest problem was turnovers. 22 of them in the game, on a night where the Streaks shot fairly well but the turnovers denied them a number of opportunities. Galesburg trailed by as many as 8 a couple of times in the first half, but rallied back to tie it up at 30 by halftime. But then Quincy built a 9-point lead by the end of the 3rd quarter and won it by 11.
“The real offensive start for the Blue Devils was Aaron Shoot who was hitting on all cylinders, he finished with 29, 3 3-pointers, and a whole bunch of free-throws especially in the 4th quarter to ice the game. Jaeden Smith hit his first 3-point attempts of the night and finished with 11 as he fouled out, Jirehl Brock had 10, all those coming from the free throw line.
“For Galesburg, Mark Harden was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game on Senior Night, he fouled out but finished with a career high 18, including 12 in the 4th quarter, and he was fouled shooting a 3-pointer three different times, knocking down two of those for potential 4-point plays. Jacob Carl also finished in double figures with 12, T.J. Pendleton had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
“Galesburg drops to 15-14 overall and 2-7 in the Western Big 6, Quincy now first place in the Western Big 6 after United Township lost to Rock Island, the Devils are 19-4 overall and 7-2 in the Conference. The Quincy Sophomores also defeated Galesburg 55-52. Galesburg is back home tomorrow against Geneseo, we’ll have it on WGIL for a 5:40pm pre-game and 6pm tip off, final home game of the regular season for Galesburg.”
