Rollin “Rick” Ehrenhart, 63 of rural Abingdon, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.He was born September 5, 1953 in Galesburg, the son of F. E. “Bud” and Clana H. Voorhees Ehrenhart.  He married Deborah Myers on January 26, 1973 in Berwick.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Deb; one brother, Ronald Ehrenhart, Sr. of Abingdon; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Chad Ehrenhart.

Rick lived in the Abingdon area all his life.  He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1971.  He worked as a coal miner on the dragline for Midland Coal Company and Midstate Coal Company near Rapatee for almost 30 years.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.  He later worked as a welder and crane operator for Ag Industrial Company in Galesburg and currently was employed by CHADCO in Bushnell as a welder and crane operator.

He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle and even enjoyed riding Deb’s Harley trike.  He liked to tinker in the yard and in his earlier years he spent a lot of time hunting and fishing.  Even in death, Rick is helping other families as he was a donor through the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the chapel with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating.  Burial will follow the service at the Abingdon Cemetery.
