Here is a recap of tonight’s game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:
“The Galesburg Boys Basketball team ended it’s regular season with a disappointing 62-57 loss at Rock Island. Disappointing, because the Streaks lead by 16 just before halftime. But a turnover that lead to a Rock Island layup at the buzzer, and cut the deficit to 14, was actually part of a 12-0 run that got the Rocks back within 3 before the Silver Streaks could hardly even realize it early in the 2nd half. It was part of a 21-7 3rd quarter score for the Rocks, that ended up in a 45-45 tie at the end of three and then the Rocks hit all 8 of their free throws down the stretch to win it by 5.
“Jacob Ellis was one of four Rock Island players in double figures leading the way with 20. For the Silver Streaks, our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game was Cornell Dotson who finished with a career high 19. He was 7/9 from the field, and hit 5 3-pointers. T.J. Pendleton also finished with a characteristic double, double 13 points, 14 rebounds. Again Galesburg drops to 15-16 on the season, they finish 2-8 in the Western Big 6. Their next game comes up at Peoria High on Monday as the 3A Regional gets underway against Macomb High School. Galesburg Sophomores also fell, in a tough night, 63-29.”
