Cottage Hospital announce CEO retirement

Cottage Hospital has announced the retirement of their CEO and named his replacement.

In a press release from the hospital the announcement that CEO Barry Schneider will be stepping down from his position on May second, and that his replacement Jim Flynn will take over.

Schneider started his career in healthcare accounting, consulting and eventually moved into administration after earning his business administration degree from Indiana University, he took over the chief executive officer role in 2015.

Flynn has served Cottage Hospital as Chief Operations Officer.

Before joining Cottage, Flynn was CEO of Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

During his time there he was credited with helping to reduce wait times in the emergency department, as well as designing the wound care program and contributing to physician recruitment efforts.

Flynn received his master of health administration from the University of St. Francis and his bachelor of science in business administration from University of Missouri in St. Louis.

Mark Blackburn, chair of the board of trustees says of Flynn “We look forward to seeing Galesburg Cottage Hospital continue to thrive under his leadership.”
