The arts will be very much alive at a fundraising party this Friday to benefit the Galesburg Civic Art Center.
20 artists will be creating works in real time that will be up for bid as attendees of the Summer Soiree (Swar-AY) can interact with them, enjoy food and bid on the works later in the night.

The Soiree starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Praire Players Civic Theatre but there’s also an after party with music provided by The Curtis Hawkins Band at 9:30 p.m.

Bass player Hawkins was and is sometimes still a staple of the Galesburg music scene, but currently resides in Denver.

Danielle Kleine is committee chair for the Soiree and explains to WGIL what’s being celebrated.

“It’s just kind of an event to bring everyone together to celebrate the new efforts I see Galesburg going towards,” Kleine says. “It’s a great way to showcase that and it will be a very fun event.”

Chefs from Iron Spike and En Season will provide the food for the night.

Tickets can be purchased at galesburgarts.org or by going to the Arts Center in downtown.

Kleine says there is some chance that tickets will be available at the door the night of the event.

It’s $40 to attend the Soiree and $15 to only attend the after party.
