An event coming up next weekend will raise money for A-L-S research is the Fifth Annual Sing Fore A Cure at Oak Run Golf Course.
The cost to attend the event is $50 and includes green fees, cart rental and lunch, and in addition there will be a live auction, raffle prizes, bake sale.

The event was started by Courtney Ecklund to help spread awareness, and raise money to help fight A-L-S after her father was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

“Well, my dad was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease on his 28th birthday in 1988 and they gave him 2 to 5 years to live and my dad being the stubborn old man he is was like, ‘no I’m not going to let ALS decide when I’m going to live or die,” Ecklund says. “So he’s been fighting, he’s been living over half his life time with Lou Gehrig’s disease.”

In the four years since Ecklund started Swing Fore A Cure she’s managed to raise over $48,000.

The event kicks off in Dahinda on July 29th at 8:00 A-M.
