Orpheum Theatre to get new air conditioning

If you attended the Throwback Thursday movie, you might have wished you dressed for a warmer climate.
The air conditioning at the Orpheum Theatre has been an issue for some time with a new system being installed earlier in the year.

However, Executive Director Kevin Maynard says that the air conditioning unit isn’t operating at 100% – with a compressor failure before the production of “Oklahoma!”

“Right before Okalhoma we had one of the compressors go out on our compressor unit. We could replace one of our compressor units in a little bit and keep patching this together or we hold off on that and we start a major project to completely replace the AC unit including the coils. Instead of putting a band-aid on it let’s go it and fix the entire thing,” Maynard says.

Maynard said the A-C unit will be taken offline and coils will be replaced starting next Tuesday August 22nd, wrapping up at about September 1st.

He says that this improvement will help keep the theatre more energy efficient, and help tie all the climate control systems into the same system.
