The Carl Sandburg College volleyball squad picked up their third straight sweep with a 25-11, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Arrowhead Conference rival Illinois Valley Tuesday night.
With the win the Chargers even up their season record to 5-5 while moving above .500 in the conference with a 2-1 record.
The Chargers dominated the opening set – jumping out to a 11-4 lead early on thanks to a 9-1 push.
In the second set the Eagles battled hard to keep the score tied at 19 before the Chargers took 6 of the next 8 with Jordan Price taking 2 kills and an ace during that stretch.
The final set saw Illinois Valley take a 15-14 lead before CSC won 7 of 8 to go up 21-16, but the Eagles didn’t die there.
IVCC came within 2 points before Sandburg finished them off with 3 straight points.
Sandburg was lead by Josalyn Owens and Hannah Thompson with 9 kills and Price had 8.
Camerin Huizenga had a team-high 18 assists while sophomore Emma Derry had 15.
Libero Adre Vetter racked up 11 digs and freshman Haley Stevenson had 9.

BOYS GOLF
The Silver Streaks swept Annawan-Wethersfield and Mercer County Tuesday at a triangular at Kewanee Dunes.
Galesburg shot a 163, Mercer County a 180, and Annawan-Wethersfield a 234.

Knoxville fell to United and Monmouth-Roseville in a triangular at Gibson Woods.
The Titans won with a 179, while the Red Storm claimed second shooting a 207 and the Blue Bullets had a 223. Knoxville was led by Logan Thompson who shot a 45.
Medalist honors went to Nick Corman of Monmouth-Roseville who shot a 41.
VOLLEYBALL
Knoxville beat Mercer County in straight sets 25-20, 25-16.
Alis Bickell led the Blue Bullets with 5 kills while Emily Lenz had 5 blocks.
Katie Hummel had 7 digs and Shelby Shreeves had 11 assists.

ROWVA got their first win of the year with a 25-4, 25-2 sweep of Rivermont.
Sarah Hennenfent led the Tigers with 7 aces and 4 kills wile Jaylen Haynes had 4 assist.

Monmouth-Roseville swept Macomb Tuesday 25-20, 25-15.
Kaylee Woodard had 11 kills against the Bombers while her sister Delaney served 11 points.
Mackenzie Connell had 9 digs and 9 assists in the win.

BASKETBALL
The Churchill Jr. High squads swept Orion yesterday.
The 7th graders edged the Chargers 26-24 while the 8th grade Blue Streaks rolled Orion to a 33-8 win.
FOOTBALL
Galesburg’s 7th grade squad fell to East Moline Glenview 16-14 yesterday.
Galesburg returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.
The first for 60 yards by Cameron Aguire, the other by Joseph Moren for 70 yards.
Noah Range had a 2 point conversion in the game.
On the defensive side, Emilio Torres had 7 tackles and Moren had 6. Range and John Sibley each had an interception.
The Streak’s 7th Graders are 2-1 on the year and will play in Rock Island on Tuesday, September 19th.
