GHS Volleyball team falls to Alleman

It was a close fight through the whole match, but the Galesburg Silver Streaks fell to Alleman Tuesday night in three sets: 25-22, 23-25, 23-25. 

Yvone Mixon had 13 kills while Hannah Huppenbauer had eight kills and six blocks for the Silver Streaks.

Emily Meinert had 2 Aces and eight digs while Madelie Carlson and Megan Lingafelter both had 11 assists in the loss.

Galesburg’s Freshmen defeated Allemon in three sets, 25-17, 20-25, 15-8 while the Sophomores won in straight sets 25-14, 25-16.

United’s Varsity defeated Galva in straight sets 25-9, 25-17.

Ashton Chandler had three aces while Vada Gregory had ten kills.

Baylee McKeown racked up 17 assists and Jordian Cook had ten digs.

The United varsity improves to 27-7 on the year.

Rock Island swept United Township (25-16, 25-22)

 

BOYS SOCCER
Geneseo edged out Galesburg 1-0 at the Class 2A Regional Tuesday.

Reed Adams scored in the 52nd minute of play.

Geneseo outshot Galesburg 12-8 with Hunter Sanders making 5 saves.

Galesburg’s season ends with a 8-9-4 record.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
The Prairie Fire volleyball team cruised past Robert Morris University-Springfield 3-0 on Tuesday night 25-16, 25-12, 25-15.

Jeanette Peebles led the way with 13 kills and three blocks.

Emily Mosher racked up 29 assists and KyLeigh Guthals added 22 digs.

Rose Griffin pitched in eight kills.

The Prairie Fire will return to action on Friday at Beloit.

Monmouth twice came back from the brink to post a 3-0 win over Eureka in the Devils’ den Tuesday night 28-26, 25-22, 27-25.

Ashley Farris led the Scots with 21 kills, two assists, and a block while Laura Dulee dished out 28 assists in the sweep.

Monmouth continues their road trip this weekend with a Friday match at St. Norbert and a Saturday date at lake Forest.

Carl Sandburg College continue their dominant ways as they swept Black Hawk in three sets 25-22, 25-11, 25-23 Tuesday night.

The Chargers were led by Josalyn Owens who had 13 kills and four digs while Hannah Thompson had eight kills and 19 digs, and Adre Vetter had 20 digs.

Dishing out 22 assists was Emma Derry while Camerin Huizenga had 13.

The Chargers will take part in the Iowa Central Triton Invite in For Dodge over the weekend.
