Knox County’s unemployment rate continues to trend smaller along with its labor force.

According to numbers released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security on Wednesday, the county had an unemployment rate of 4.6% for October the second straight month staying below 5%.

But it’s also the third straight month with a labor force below 23,000 when it was above 24,000 just three years ago.

More specifically in the City of Galesburg the numbers are similar since about 55% of Knox’s workforce is inside of Galesburg.

With in Galesburg there was a six straight month with unemployment below six percent but the job force has dropped by 343 since June.

The job market in Warren County remains stable with a 4.0% unemployment rate, which is on the low-side of where its averaged the last year.

Warren has lost some from their labor force as well, dropping by about 350 in the last year.

These counties are a part of a wave of drops in unemployment across the state as all 102 counties have improved rates across the year.
