In Western Big 6 Conference play Thursday, the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls came away with the win over rival United Township Panthers, 62-41. The GHS girls now advance to 4-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play as UT falls to 3-5 and 1-1 in the Western Big 6. The Streaks had a much better showing Thursday, with only fifteen turn overs compared to the struggling Panthers with twenty-five. Yvonne Mixon had a great game for the Streaks with 12 points and 10 rebound, the only Galesburg player with a double-double versus UT. Our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game tonight is Kelsi Legge who may not have had the most points but did have a strong defensive showing. With the Streaks struggling from the line Kelsi accumulate 8 points on the the night, all free-throws, many coming down the home stretch. The Silver Streaks girls basketball team will now have a few days off in their preparation to face Lincoln this upcoming Tuesday night.
