A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a man who was charged and arrested in Warren County on Tuesday on felony pot possession.

31-year-old Sean B. Billingsley of Jacksonville, Oregon appeared in court Thursday with public defender Thomas Siegel.

He indicated to the court that he would be seeking private counsel.

Billingsley was arrested on Tuesday after the Illinois State Police – with assistance from the Monmouth Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the West Central Illinois Task Force – responded to a call of suspicious activity at the Monmouth Municipal Airport.

Officers discovered Billingsley unloading cargo from a small personal aircraft – finding approximately 200 pounds of cannabis, a pistol, and $2,830 in cash on the aircraft.

He was arrested and charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis – a Class 1 Felony.

On Wednesday, Billingsley had his bond hearing in Warren County Circuit Court where Chief Judge David L. Vancil Jr. set his bond at $250,000.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 16th.
