Last night the Knox County Finance Committee held a special meeting to discuss an ongoing issue with the pay scale for non-union employees.
Captain Dave Caslin with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department gave comment at the start of the meeting, voicing his displeasure with the County Boards treatment of non-union employees.

“I think the county the way they’re treating the non-union personnel is completely inappropriate. You are almost encouraging non-union personnel to form or join unions,” Caslin says.

The committee discussed breaking down each job description into several factors, including education requirements, supervisory power, and so on.

The committee asked Treasurer Robin Davis to reach out to Whiteside County administration to find out additional information on starting salaries for employees in various positions, as well as speak with the administrator in charge of personnel and salaries.

A second meeting was scheduled for January 10th at 6 o’clock.
