20171221_192036

The Galesburg Silver Streaks get back to .500 on the season with a 47-29 win over the Irish of Peoria Notre Dame High School. The Streaks are now 6-6 on the year as they head into the holidays and the Mattoon Holiday Tournament coming up next week. Galesburg got off to a good start leading 15-6 at the end of the first quarter, outscoring Notre Dame 25-11 in that first half, and only being outscored in the fourth and finally quarter with a lot of subs playing. Galesburg had two players in double figures with both of them finishing with a double-double for the night. Yvonne Mixon had 11 points and 14 rebounds while Emily Meinert  added 11 points and 11 rebounds to help the Streaks come away with the victory. Yvonne Mixon was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game. The only area the Streaks seemed to struggle was from the free-throw line finishing just 8/21 but otherwise one of the best performances by the Streaks in about a month. The GHS girls have about a week off as they prepare for Mattoon Holiday Tournament play with their next game coming up Wed. the 29th where the Streaks will take on the Salem Wild Cats.
