Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs Rochester Rockets

10086

The Galesburg Boy’s Basketball team survived a furious fourth quarter rally by Rochester to hold off the winless Rockets 57-55 to open the Taylorville Holiday Tournament. The Silver Streaks lead by 12 going into the final quarter and held the Rockets at just 31 points before Rochester put up 24 in the fourth quarter and pulled within 2, which ended up being the final score at 57-55.

The Streaks had 3 players in double figures- a good balance between Cornell Dotson’s 17 points, Andrew Anderson’s 16 points and Khalil Hodge’s 15 points as Galesburg improves to 9-2 and Rochester drops to 0-8 on the season. Galesburg’s next game comes up against Rantoul; we’ll have it on 92.7 FM The Laser at 8:40am Thursday for the pregame. The Streaks will play the first game of day 2 at Taylorville with a 9am tip, and then another game later on in the day against Dunlap.

Meanwhile, Tylen Parks was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game. He didn’t score in the game, but his defensive effort was great and his energy coming off the bench in the 3rd quarter helped make Tylen our selection.
