Game three in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament for the Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball team resulted in a loss Thursday against Altamont 50-43.  The Streaks are now 7-8 on the season.

Galesburg jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but Altamont fought their way back into it, and played consistent basketball en route to victory.  The Streaks shot very well in the first half — 55% — but turned around in the second half, shooting only 17% from the field.

Andrea Sampson led the way for the Streaks with 16 points, including five three-pointers and six rebounds.  Yvonne Mixon had 12 points off six baskets.

Our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game is Kelsey Legge, who triggered the offense in the first half and had 11 assists — a career high.  She also had two steals and three rebounds.

The Streaks have one more game Thursday at the Mattoon Tournament, but the opponent and the time of the game are to be determined.  Tune in to WGIL during the day for updates on our basketball broadcast schedule.
