Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball @ Quincy Blue Devils

Recap by Tom Meredith:

“It was a tough night for the Galesburg Silver Streak Girls on the road against the Quincy Blue Devils as they fall 36-32. The Streaks didn’t shoot or hold on to the ball very well – they were 24% from the field, 12-51 overall, just 3-28 from the 3-point arc, and turned the ball over 29 times.  The Streaks were lead by Emily Meinert’s 12 points, 14 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. She was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Yvonne Mixon had just 2 points but had 16 rebounds and 3 blocked shots on the night. The Streaks were down 13-1 early in the game but were able to claw their way back into it in the 2nd half, cutting the lead to only 2 points in the 4th quarter. They just couldn’t get anything more going with a few opportunities toward the end, and Quincy came out with the win. That drops the Streaks to 9-9 on the season and 2-3 in the Western Big 6. The GHS sophomores lost their matchup with Quincy as well, with a final score of 50-42. The Streaks’ next action comes Monday night when they play host to the Dunlap Eagles.”
