No lack of activities for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Start your weekend off early with the Galesburg VFW Auxiliary Quarter Raffle Friday, March 16th. The raffle and auction will benefit U.S. Veterans from all branches of our armed services. Doors will open at 5:00 pm and the auction will begin at 6:00 pm, and the evening will also include a 50/50, bake sale, and food. Another event that begins tonight and continues all weekend is Abingdon-Avon High School’s production of “The Sound of Music” at the Stockdale Auditorium. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for students – Friday and Saturday’s program begins at 7:00pm or catch the Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm.

Before you partake in traditional St. Patrick’s Day activities tomorrow night, the Galesburg YMCA is holding a Lucky Leprechaun Fun Run. Runners can choose from a one, two, or three mile course that will start and end in downtown starting at 8:00 am. The run is free & open to the public.

The Knoxville St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 17th from the high school and head west down US 150.
Knoxville 2nd Ward Alderman, Karen Benjamin tells WGIL you can still participate in parade – either contact city hall or “just show up.” The Knoxville Fire Department corned beef and cabbage will be serving starting at 1:00pm to 4:00pm for $8 Saturday.

Saturday afternoon starting at 4:30 pm, is the Sherrard High School Band Showcase and Spaghetti Dinner. The 2nd annual event will be held in the Sherrard High School commons featuring the Sherrard Junior and Senior High Jazz Bands, Orion Jazz Bands, ROWVA Jazz Bands and the Monmouth College Jazz Band. The cost is $10 at the door and $5 for kids 12 and under.

Trivia nights recently not only help break a mental sweat, but also helps groups sweating about their funds. The Midwest Bandits Music Trivia night is Saturday, March 17th starting at 6:00 pm at the Knoxville American Legion. The cost is $100 per table with a max of ten people per team. Proceeds will help support the Midwest Bandits Softball team with uniforms, tournaments, and travel costs. To reserve your table, call Todd Foglesong at 368-9630.
Another fun trivia opportunity will be held Saturday to help support Xtreme Baseball and Softball Inc. Xtreme Trivia will be held at the Galesburg Knights of Columbus with doors opening at 6:00 pm with trivia starting at 7:00 pm. The cost is $120 per team of 10 maximum, and the night also includes a 50/50, silent auction, bake sale and wine and liquor pull.
