The Cycling of Galesburg riders are hosting a “Tune-Up Ride” Saturday, May 12th. Cyclist Jeremy Karlin says that the tune-up ride is a great opportunity to finally enjoy some spring weather, knock the rust off, and join in some camaraderie. “We’re starting off the ride in the parking lot behind Ride-N-Run at 9:00 am,” Karlin said. “The route goes back to Budde’s. From there, it’s 15 mile loops. So you go down to Lake Bracken and back; you go out to Lake Storey and back; and you go out to basically Knoxville at Lake Rice and back. It’s these 15 to 20 mile routes. If you want to make sure the wind is at your back on your way back to Budde’s – you can just do one loop if you want. You can do as many loops as you want.” He says whether you are an experienced rider or not – all are welcome. The Cyclists of Galesburg have a “no drop policy” meaning no cyclist will ever ride alone – one or two cyclists will stay at any beginner’s pace because it’s a ride and not a race. The Cyclists of Galesburg meet Wednesday nights at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings between 9:00am and 10:00am. Participants at tomorrow event will receive a t-shirt and riders must wear a helmet. To register, visit the Cycling of Galesburg website. Registration at the event tomorrow begins at 8:00am pre-registration costs $25.00. All proceeds benefit the Galesburg Public Library Summer Reading Program.
