Every year the Galesburg Public Library Foundation awarded the Mike Kroll Leadership Award to a current community leader.

The award this year was given to Knox College Associate Director of Admissions and President of the Galesburg NAACP Devone Eurales.

Eurales was presented with the award at the Foundation’s Annual Dinner last Friday.

Originally hailing from Cairo, Illinois Eurales’s involvement and honing of leadership follows him back to his days as a student at Illinois College.

There he was President of the Coalition for Ethnic Awareness as well as Sigma Pi literary society.

Knox President Teresa Amott says that Eurales “leads by example” and he holds the hallmarks of a “true leader” in that he’s “ever up-beat, helpful and honest.”

He’s also a member of the Streaks Dad and Moms mentorship program in District 205 as well as a dedicated member of Full Gospel Church.

Eurales’ recognition comes a year after Mona Tourlentes was presented the Mike Kroll Award.

Eurales name will be displayed on a plaque in the library lobby.
