Monday morning three Galesburg Law Enforcement Officers were promoted during a ceremony at the Galesburg City Council Chambers. Chairman David Guenther of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners made some opening statements to the packed room. Lieutenant Russ Idle was promoted to Captain, Sergeant Steffanie Cromien was promoted to Lieutenant, and Officer Terry Boynton was promoted to Sergeant. Police Chief David Christensen addressed the crowd following the ceremony. “I want to say congratulations to those who got promoted today,” Christensen said. “This is a red letter day in your career. I’ve been following Terry’s career here – I worked with Terry’s dad.  Congratulations to everybody – it’s a big deal. I think, I was telling Chairman Guenther here, these kind of triple promotions don’t happen often. I think it’s only the third time since I’ve been Chief.” Idle had his wife, Nichole, pin his new captain bars on him. Cromien, now the city’s first female lieutenant, had her parents pin her Lieutenant bars on her. Boynton had his new bars pinned on him by his wife Jeanie and daughter Josefine.
