The National Railroad Hall of Fame is celebrating Railroad Days with an exhibition of photography focused on the story of the American railroad, entitled “American Rails: Stories Through the Lens”.

Lily Blouin, the Hall’s Director of Outreach and Education says this exhibit is the product of a competition that’s been over a year in the making. She says they put out a call for entry… “asking photographers to submit images that they think tell the story of the American railroad,” she said. “We held that until March 2018 with (receiving) 171 submissions from across the globe, actually.” A national jury picked from those submissions the top 24 which will be displayed at Prairie Players Civic Theatre at 160 S. Seminary Street on Saturday, June 23rd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 24th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hall of Fame Executive Director Julie King says that some may be surprised at the passion for railroads that is displayed around the world, particularly as it relates to photographic inspiration.
