Phyllis Ann Carter, 66, of Galesburg, died at 3:54 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 in UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.She was born May 30, 1952, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Hayward L. and Elva (Thorburn) Carter. She had been married to Thomas Maupin and David Beard.

She is survived by the love of her life and best friend of 28 years, Stanley Haas of Galesburg; two sisters, Wanda A. Carter of rural Gerlaw and Jeanette Schultz (Dale) Rorabaugh of Decatur; twin brothers, Dean E. Carter and Gene A. Carter, both of Galesburg; a niece, Sara (Michael) Borgstede of Towanda, New York; a nephew, Dan Schultz of Decatur; several aunts and numerous cousins.   Her parents preceded her in death.

Phyllis worked for many years at the former Eagle Grocery Store as a cashier, stocker, and retired as manager of the non-food area. She graduated from Galesburg Senior High School in 1970.   She was a member of Galesburg First Christian Church. Phyllis enjoyed working crossword puzzles, listening to music, and spending time with her dogs.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Martha Jean Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angels Humane Society.   Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
