Charles “Chuck” Raymond Poyner, 68 of Galesburg, was called home to be with the Lord at 4:29 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018.He was born April 25, 1950 in Galesburg.  He was raised by his mother, Vada Marie (Myers) Poyner and his father by adoption, William R. Poyner.  He married Kathy A. Brown on March 14, 1981 at Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Galesburg by his mother, Rev. Vada Poyner.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathy; one daughter, Heather Sinclair of Galesburg; one granddaughter, Serena Sinclair; his father, William Poyner of Knoxville; and one brother, Ronald (and Kelly) Poyner of Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.

He graduated from Knoxville High School.  He lived most of his adult life in Galesburg and worked as a supervisor at United Facilities for 35 years, retiring in 2011.  He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Abingdon.  His hobbies included fishing, playing cards games and working word search puzzles.  He was a self-taught accordion player and loved playing it at church.

Cremation will be accorded.  Celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
