The worlds of the symphony and the farm may sound far removed but they’ll collide in a special event coming up next month.

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony and the Knox County Farm Bureau are teaming up to hold a concert at a farm in Oneida on Aug. 26 at 3 p.m.

KGS will perform The Sounds of Summer at Swanson Family Farms just north of Oneida at 2553 Knox Highway 3.

Executive Director of KGS Lucas Wood says that they often talk of KGS as being “your orchestra” and they’re putting that into action.

He hopes this event will allow “many new members of our community” to enjoy their music, learn more about the symphony and more about our agricultural community.”

Farm Bureau Executive Director Hailey Weyrich says from her organization’s side of things this is a chance to give people an “exciting on-farm experience.”

She says they always enjoy introducing the community to our local family farms.

Come before the concert starting at 2 p.m. and bring the kids.

They’ll have an instrument petting zoo, allowing kids to touch different musical instruments as well as some music and farm themed crafts.
