The Knox County Finance Committee was informed last night that the Compensation Study that was approved in May could have something before the board as early as September.

That would be contingent on how much information Paypoint HR could gather from departments during their research, which Treasurer Robin Davis said would be next Monday, July 23rd, and Tuesday, July 24th.

A question popped up requiring the action from the committee which Davis, reading an update from County Clerk Scott Erickson, gave to committee members.

“In discussions with Paypoint HR, they will be conducting the compensation classification study, a questions has come up,” Davis said. “The company bid the project to include the union employee positions as well as non-union positions. When he brought that up to them that they were only looking at non-union, they said we should just go ahead and do everyone as it was already in the pay structure. ”

Since Paypoint HR’s bid included the union and non-union job positions, the committee approved to include the union job positions in the study.

Davis also went over several fund balances with committee members.

While there were some positive account balances, Davis says the committee of a severe change in two accounts when compared to last year.

She first went over the nursing home, which last year was trending positive of $25,576.23 but are now in at ($138,971.35) .

“The referendum is $137,875.30 liquid and a year ago they were $790,192.52 . So we’re definitely trending a little worse than we were a year ago.”

The difference in the referendum fund is a decrease of $655,317.22

On the positive side, Davis said that the general fund was positive of over $326,000 and the Mary Davis Home over $606,000 .
