A meeting of the Western Illinois Amtrak Corridor — leaders from the cities essentially along the Galesburg-to-Quincy Amtrak line — was held Wednesday in Galesburg. And leaders here say they remain concerned about a proposal by Amtrak brass to all but discontinue one of Amtrak’s long-distance train lines taking passengers to the West Coast, thinking that could lead to further dismantling of the passenger rail system. Galesburg Mayor John Pritchard talked about it at length with Will Stevenson on Galesburg’s Evening News. NOTE: Mayor Pritchard owns WGIL, but Pritchard’s appearance was at Will’s invitation. The interview aired on WGIL in two parts, but we present it here in its entirety.
