The two female juveniles who that suffered severe burns from a mishap with a fire pit Friday in Galesburg are in stable condition but will be “scarred for the rest of their lives.”That’s according to one of the girl’s, Miranda Green, stepfather Larry Estes.

Estes says that Green’s injuries include a burnt right knee that extends to her lower ribs and across her belly.

Further complicating Green’s condition, she has a genetic disease which causes her blood to clot and Estes says her life was in danger when several clots were found in her lung a little more than a year ago.

She’s already undergone surgery on her thigh and stomach and by the end of the week doctors will see how her body has responded.

The other girl Shania Campbell is 50 percent burned from the waist down including severe damage to her ankles and burns on her arms and hand.

She’s expected to undergo a second surgery on Thursday.

Her condition is almost made more complicated by being diabetic.

Estes said the girls are struggling mentally as well as physically but they remain friends and Estes says the two families are leaning on one another.’

GoFundMe pages have been set up for both girls.
