Another step was taken for Love’s Travel Stop to come to the Maple City.

A non-binding term sheet for the development agreement between the City of Monmouth and Love’s was approved at last night’s city council meeting.

Construction of the travel stop will be on a 12-acre parcel located in the area of 11th Avenue and the intersection of U.S. 67 and U.S. 34.

According to the Monmouth City Council summary, Love’s will be re-constructing 11th avenue from the 34/67 intersection to South D Street and extending both water and sanitary sewer utilities through 11th avenue to serve the property.

It is indicated from the summary that the estimated cost of construction will be to the tune of $9 million. Following the infrastructure improvements, the city will then assume ownership.

Also approved was the pricing for the final five years of a ten-year agreement with Eagle Enterprises for the collection and processing of curbside recycling within the city.

Additionally, aldermen also approved the 2018 tax levy of $2,229,555.
