Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball @ Morton Potters

Here is a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

“As difficult as it is to win at Morton High School on any night, the Silver Streaks battled through adversity and never trailed in the game to come away with a 52-50 victory over the Potters, the Streaks 10th win of the season. Galesburg led by as many as eight in the second half but the Potters rallied back to tie the game twice in the fourth quarter. The Streaks built their lead back up to six, knocked down some key free throws down the stretch, had a big defensive stop on a length of the court pass by Morton to deny their final shot attempt, and in doing so secured the two point victory. Keith Cunningham and Jaylin McCants led the way with 16 points each for the Streaks, Eric Price came off the bench to score 13 points, and Jaylin McCants actually walked away with a double-double, racking up 11 rebounds on the night. Our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game went to Nick Fields who had two big free throws late in the fourth quarter to give the Silver Streaks a two possession lead and help secure that two point victory. Nick was also the one who deflected the length of the court pass to deny a final shot for Morton and more notably ended up playing the the entire fourth quarter with four fouls while guarding one of Morton’s most dominating players and never fouled out. The Streaks next action comes up Friday night as they step back into Big 6 Conference play and head to Moline. That game will have a 7:06 pm start time and will be broadcast on 92.7 FM The Laser.”
