Here’s a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:
A back-and-forth first quarter was taken over by the Galesburg boys basketball team late as they built an eight point lead over the Limestone Rockets, 19-11, and went on a 10-point victory, 55-45. The Silver Streaks basically just held the Rockets at bay most of the night. The lead really never got any lower than 5, but didn’t get any higher than 12 points through most of the game. Limestone just hung in and prevented the Silver Streaks from running away with it.
The Streaks played a very solid game, didn’t commit a lot of turnovers, only six for the game, and just played very steady basketball in their 11th victory of the season. Galesburg ended up with three players in double figures, Jaylin McCants with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Keith Cunningham had a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds, and our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game, Eric Price, also made double digits with 10 points. He had 7 of those in the 3rd quarter when the Silver Streaks had a nice little burst at the end of the quarter and really gave that edge that they needed to sustain for the rest of the game.
Streaks are now 11-7 on the season and Limestone drops to 4-14. Galesburg hits the road Friday night as they head back into Western Big 6 Conference play at Quincy.
Silver Streaks sophomores won big as well tonight, so a double-header sweep in the Streaks first home game in a month. 79-46 was the final in the sophomore game.
