Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball vs. Rock Island Rocks

Here is a recap of the game from WGIL’s Brad Bennewitz:

“The Galesburg boys basketball team got one of its best wins of the season, knocking off Rock Island at home 63-56 on a night when Galesburg celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Western Big 6 Conference. The game was reminiscent of some of the classic match-ups. Galesburg was down 5 early in the second quarter, and from being down 18-13 they went on a 20-2 run that extended into the first two minutes of the third quarter and helped them build a 13 point lead on the way to that 7 point victory. Part of the run can be credited to our Dave’s Autobody Crunch-Time Player of the Game Jaylin McCants who finished with career highs of 31 points and 15 rebounds, but don’t overlook the plays of Keith Cunningham who ended the night with 16 points, 12 of those in the second half, and 9 rebounds as the Silver Streaks improved to 13-9 on the season and 2-4 in the Western Big 6. Rock island dropped to 13-7 and they’re 4-2 in conference play. Galesburg gets back into action on Saturday night at their own shootout, capping off a full day of basketball at John Thiel gym. Streaks will take on the Dixon Dukes with pre-game starting at 7:10 and tip-off scheduled for 7:30.”
