James “Jim” A. Bodenhamer, 85 of St. Augustine, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his home with his family at his side.He was born July 21, 1933 in Abingdon, the son of Arthur and Ruth (White) Bodenhamer.   He married Martha Selph on February 21, 1958 at the Abingdon Christian Church. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Martha; his children, Paula (and Tim) Randall of St. Augustine, Rodney (and Hallie) Bodenhamer of Avon and Rickey Bodenhamer of Avon; four granddaughters, Erin (and Jason) Vargas of Galesburg, Kira (and Chris) Bennett of Abingdon, Corin Bodenhamer of Chicago and Justine Bodenhamer of Avon; three great-grandchildren, Jamison, Ellin and Cobin; and one brother, John Bodenhamer of Galesburg. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1953. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Jim worked at the Brass Factory in Abingdon, and Gale Products and the Admiral Factory, both in Galesburg. He also was a bartender at Club 41 in St. Augustine for over 40 years. Jim loved his family and would often say “I just want everyone together” when anyone brought up what he wanted for special occasions. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed several World Series championships. He enjoyed his coffee time spent at Carolyn’s in Abingdon with his school buddies and friends.

Cremation will be accorded.   Graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Abingdon Cemetery.   Pastor Rodney Fegan will officiate. Following the service, family and friends will continue to celebrate Jim’s life until 2 p.m. at the Abingdon American Legion.
