The Galesburg VFW Auxiliary Quarter Raffle returns March 15th. Doors open at 5:00 pm, the event begins at 6:00 pm and will feature a 50/50, food, baked goods, and a live auction all night. Smokin’ Willies BBQ will also be there. How does a quarter raffle work? Fran Hawthorne with the VFW Auxiliary: “You can buy a paddle for $3, or you can buy two for $5 and you get a roll of quarters. Depending on the cost of the item – it could be one quarter up to six quarters. There’s a bucket in the middle of the table where you drop in one quarter or two quarters – depending on the price. If you’ve got two paddles: that means two quarters and you hold your paddle up. They will pull a number out and call in out. If you put your bid in, you win.” The quarter auction benefits U.S. veterans from all branches of the armed forces.
