A 5-year-old AlWood student has received national attention thanks to his part in creating a community library in the village of Alpha.

Logan Brinson was honored by 74th District Representative Dan Swanson for his work to bring a community library to the Henry County village of fewer than 700 people.

Since it’s creation, Logan has added a second little library in Alpha as well as petitioned to create one for the village of Rio.

Swanson, speaking on the House floor, told the story of how Logan started a little library in the village using his own books.

“So Logan, taking his own books first, made a little library. Taking an old newspaper stand box, removed the coin machine with the help of his dad, and started placing his own personal books inside that library,” Swanson said on the House floor.

Swanson says that Logan has received books donated from 24 states and 14 countries, including South Africa, Japan, Scotland, and Germany.

Logan and his family were featured on NBC’s Today Show last week to tell their story.
