A man is believed to be in the Knox County Jail, arrested over the weekend in relation to an alleged break-in and assault several weeks ago.
23-year-old Mark R. Jones is facing felonies of Class X home invasion and Class 4 criminal trespassing for allegedly breaking into the home of an ex-girlfriend and subjecting the woman to shoving, punching, and hair pulling.
Police reports say the victim did have red marks on her arm and wrist and the home’s door frame showed signs of forced entry.
They were reportedly multiple adult and child witnesses in the apartment at the time of the alleged assault.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Jones arrest by Friday, and he was placed into custody sometime over the weekend according to the Knox County Jail’s automated information system.
Jones does not yet have bond set. It’s possible his first appearance in court, could come as soon as today.
Jones addressed is listed as Chicago, but its believed he’s primarily resided in the Galesburg area since at least 2016.
