Adult and two juveniles charged with felony mob action for Tuesday attack

A 19-year-old man, as well as two juveniles, are facing charges of felony mob action for allegedly using “force or violence in disturbing the public peace.”Reports from Galesburg Police indicate that initially, a 13-year-old male juvenile who came to a home on the 100-block of Oren Lane, asking an adult man for his son who he said owed him a debt.

The adult chased away the 13-year-old, but while fleeing he was said to promise to return with more people.

Police say the 13-year-old returned in a gold Chevy with a 16-year-old as well as 19-year-old Michael Hengl of East Galesburg.

According to several witnesses, police cite, the trio started striking the man and his son.

Specifically, the adult victim’s eye was said to have been bleeding from a punch thrown by Hengl.

Hengl, however, told police that he was struck first.

The juveniles charged were processed and released, while Hengl remained in the Knox County Jail pending a detention hearing.
